GLOBAL WARMING. Panic or reality?

VISIT THE LINKS TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:
1. What is global warming? Global warming is the current rise in the average temperature of Earth's oceans and atmosphere. The scientific consensus is that global warming is occurring and was initiated by human activities, especially those that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels.
2. What is the process involved in the greenhouse effect? The "greenhouse effect" is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat. These gases let in light but keep heat from escaping, like the glass walls of a greenhouse.

First, sunlight shines onto the Earth's surface, where it is absorbed and then radiates back into the atmosphere as heat. In the atmosphere, “greenhouse” gases trap some of this heat, and the rest escapes into space. The more greenhouse gases are in the atmosphere, the more heat gets trapped.
3. What signs warn us about global warming? Some of the most obvious signs are visible in the Arctic, where rising temperatures and melting ice are dramatically changing the region’s unique landscapes and wildlife—as well as people’s lives and livelihoods. Across the globe, other early warning signs include melting glaciers, shifting ranges of plants and animals, and the earlier onset of spring.
4. Can you quote another term for global warming? It's a horribles mistakes, caused by the people, by us , But DON'T WORRY BECAUSE WE ONLY WE NEED IS CHANGE.
5. Watch the video and explain this idea: Global warming: panic or reality? I think that is a reality because we can see is starting to affect our planet. And because the people, we're destroying our world, with pollution, with our mistakes. I've realized that we need to change the world!
What can we do to stop global warming? Suggest five ideas.
1. Create less pollution.
2. Keep our world more clean, without litter on the streets.
3. No waste !
4. Find new energy sources.
5. No destroy our wonderful world.!

LITERARY COMICS

Dracula: Bram Stoker's (1847-1912)
London, end of April, 1880. Mina Murray accompanies her fiancé, Jonathan Harker, to the station. The young notary must go on business to the wildest part of Europe, to Transylvania, deep in the heart of the Carpathian region. There he must meet Count Dracula, a strange character who wants to buy a large property on the outskirts of London. Jonathan is going to suggest that he buys the magnificent Purfleet estate.
Mysterious and tormented: that's what we know about Bram Stoker, the creator of Dracula. And, indeed, that is how he must have been to imagine such a bloodthirsty creature. 104 years later, the author is perhaps not so well remembered but Dracula is certainly still as famous as ever. It's a case of a character that has "eliminated" its author!

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer: Mark Twain (1835-1910)
The story takes place in the USA, around 1860, in St Petersburg, a little town on the river Mississippi. The main character, Tom Sawyer, lives with his Aunt Polly, who tries to educate him and show him good manners but without much success...
The author spent his childhood in little town next to the river Mississippi, and he left school when he was 12 years old. He was a typographer, a steamboat pilot, and a gold digger, before becoming the most famous American writer of his time.

WRITING UNIT 8

Write a dialogue for a story
Mireia: Blanca, Blanca! Can you send a coastguard to me? I need some help!
Blanca: Mireia? Where are you? What's happened?
Mireia: I'm in a boat on the sea. I was sailing near the rocks and I hit it.
Blanca: Are you OK? Can you climb up to the rocks?
Mireia: No, I injured my leg. I can't move it and it really hurts. What am I going to do?
Blanca: Don't panic! Let's phone the coastguard.
Mireia: OK, but hurry up! I don't know how long I can stand here.
Blanca: OK, OK, hang on! I'm sure that someone will come soon.
Mireia: Blanca!
Blanca: Now what's happening?
Mireia: I sink in a hole hurry up! HELP!

WRITING UNIT 7

 Write a formal letter
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am the manager of a cycling club in London, England. The name of the club is 'The London cyclicks'. I am writing to you because we are planning to participate in a big competition next year.
The competition will take place in May. Teams from 23 countries and 20000 spectators are going to be in London for this big event, and I think that it will be good to participate for your company.
Please contact me if you are interested in sponsoring us or if you need any more information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully

Blanca Lleal, Manager.

WRITING UNIT 9

Write an email to an internet forum
Hi!
My name's Blanca Lleal and I live in South London in England. I like the area where I live, so I want to improve it.
In my opinion there isn't anywhere for young people to go and there aren't any facilities for them. As a result, young people spend all their time hanging around on the street. There are sometimes problems with vandalism and graffiti.
I think the council should do something about this. I'm sure they must have some land which local people can use for a youth café.

Blanca Lleal.

SPEAKING UNIT 9

Organize an event
Blanca: Hey, girls. What's going on there?
Elena: We're trying to organize a barbecue. We want to make some money for the youth club.
Blanca: Coool! Can I do anything?
Elena: Yes. There's a lot to do. We need some food and drink.
Blanca: Yeah, my dad's helping with that.
Elena: And I think we should make some invitations.
Blanca: I can do that, if you want.
Elena: OK. Thanks, Blanca.
Blanca: Then all we need is some music
Elena: You should phone Beth- she's in a band.
Blanca: Ok. Great

Elena: Blanca, what's happened? Are you OK?
Blanca: No, I've cut my arm.
Elena: How did that happen?
Blanca: It was an accident. I fell while I was playing basketball.
Elena: Oh, right. Have you cleaned it?
Blanca: Yes, I have, but it hurts.
Elena: Do you need help?
Blanca: No, I think it'll be OK.
Elena: Mmm. Maybe you need to see a doctor.
